Leith Community Education Centre is one of the busiest community centres in Edinburgh and approximately 3,000 people come through its’ doors every week. Leith Community Centre Association is a voluntary organisation which has been in place for more than 25 years and the Management Committee comprises of a group of volunteers who manage the Leith Community Centre in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council. The Centre is situated on the first floor of the New Kirkgate Shopping Centre, in the heart of Leith. It was re-furbished in 2004 and boasts a Sports Hall, a smaller Hall, 4 general purpose rooms, a room which is suitable for crèches and also a Café. The Centre is extremely well used throughout the week, by more than 120 local groups and is in high demand as a venue for meetings, training events, AGMs and conferences.

We continue to work to ensure that the programme of groups and events running in the Centre are varied and relevant to the local community. Many local voluntary organisations meet at the Centre, offering healthy living information, support with narcotics dependence, support for kinsfolk carers, outreach teaching and advocacy groups for those with a learning disability. Many different classes run throughout the week including English as a Second or Foreign Language classes, dance classes, history groups, art classes, martial arts and a
variety of youth clubs. Local groups including residents associations and community councils also meet at the Centre.

The Centre’s telephone number is 0131 554 4750 or you can use the ‘Contact Us’ form on this website.
